Over 30 years previous experience in a wide variety of legal disciplines, starting as a state prosecutor, and as a Judge Advocate in the U.S. Marine Corps. In the courtroom, I've prosecuted and defended criminal cases, litigated civil disputes. Outside the courtroom I've provided legal assistance to countless clients on matters as varied as corporate and business disputes, divorce, wills, criminal and DUII arrests, landlord-tenant and employment law issues.
I'm a writer and actor myself, so over the years I gravitated towards working with fellow writers, filmmakers, and theatre artists. Also a supporter of the arts, I've served in various roles with arts organizations like Willamette Writers, Post5 Theatre and the Northwest Dance Theatre. I also served with the Oregon Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts organization, whose mission is to provide low-cost legal services to the arts community.
I'm an occasional speaker for workshops on artists' law issues. Previously, I was an Adjunct Instructor for Chapman University and, later, the Paralegal Program at Portland Community College.
